Ablaze

Identity + Packaging

  • Independent project (research, ideation, branding, illustration, packaging, photography)

    Indesign, Illustrator, Photoshop

    Completed Fall 2021

  • The goal for this project was to create a set of products, for a single company, that worked together cohesively.

The audience for this company include individuals from the age of 16-65, with little to no experience with fire starting. These individuals are lively and inquisitive, learning through hands-on experiences every chance they get. Most of their time is spent testing out new hobbies and hanging out with family and friends.

  • Ablaze is a company that assists a user in any setting, from camping to cooking. This company is environmentally conscious and strives to spread fire awareness to each individual. Ablaze teaches every individual the simple and correct way to start a controlled fire. Through the use of two brand characters, Blaze and Snuffie, Ablaze provides useful tips to teach their audience in a fun and simple way.

Inspiration + Sketches

Originally I wanted to create an old style character, such as the hotdog in the bottom left. However, the character I started with, a fire extinguisher, did not correlate with the brand name and packaging story I was striving for.

So I moved in a different direction involving two characters that play off of each other, a hothead match with another match that was calm and collected.
